Teens and Adults Welcome!
Beginning Drawing: $120
Tuesday and Thursday Oct. 13 – Nov. 5: 10am – 1pm
This introductory drawing course focuses on the development of observational skills and drawing techniques, employing a range of drawing media including charcoal, graphite, soft pastels, and pen. Students in this course will develop both technical abilities and creative responses to material and subject matter.
Art fundamentals–the principles and elements of art–will be discussed individually and emphasized within each practice session. Drawing from observation and photographs will be geared towards realism; although various other drawing styles will be explored.
No prior drawing experience is required for this class.
Beginning Watercolor $120
Monday and Wednesday Oct. 12 – Nov. 4: 2-5pm
This class is designed for beginning watercolor students and painters with limited previous experience seeking to develop and refresh their skills with the watercolor medium.
This course will allow a degree of freedom of exploration and experimentation but places equal demands on proficiency of execution. We will explore techniques through still life, landscape, architectural, and figurative subjects. The class format consists of studio work with examples, short lectures, demonstrations, and individual critiques.
Expressive Watercolor $95
Monday Oct. 12 – Nov. 2: 10am-1pm
This class will dive into the expressive potential of watercolors using a variety of subject matters: botanicals, portraiture, and landscape. Students may use references provided by the instructor or collect their own references to work from. We will begin by developing a foundation in color mixing and color theory, while also learning paint applications that vary from wet-into-wet to dry-brush. A background in drawing is encouraged, but not required.
Intro to Acrylic Painting $120
Tuesday and Thursday Oct. 13 – Nov.5: 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Unlock the mysteries of color, composition and materials in this acrylic painting class. This class covers all the basics to get you painting with confidence! Painting projects will include still life, landscapes and more. This course is made for the absolute beginner or any student looking to refresh their basic painting skills.
Drop in Portrait Drawing or Painting
Ongoing Wednesdays 9:30am – 12:30pm
RSVP – Because we have to hire a model! $10 at class
Draw or paint from a live, clothed model at each session. A monitor coordinates all sessions; instruction is not provided. The sessions consist of a single pose with the same model over a multiple week period for detailed figure study work.
Bring your own art materials. A limited number of classroom easels are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions purchased in advance are good for one year from date of purchase. Pre-registration is not required.
Please note: Single sessions may not be purchased online. For single session purchases, pay the monitor when you arrive.
Texture in Drawing Workshop $95
Saturday Oct. 17 – Nov. 7; 1:30 pm – 4:30pm
In this workshop we will create a portfolio of textures which can be built upon and used as a textural reference for the artist. The study of texture in drawing will be explored using traditional and experimental drawing mediums and papers, and a variety of reference material and techniques. A multi-media sketchbook will act as your portfolio. Add visual and expressive interest to your drawings while learning the applications of various textures.
No prior drawing experience is required.
Mixed Media Workshop $95
Saturday Oct. 17 – Nov.7 10 am – 1:00 pm
Working with either your own photos or photos provided – we will be creating a collage using acrylic transfers, paints and drawing materials.
Art of Collage
This class welcomes students of all experience levels who are looking to stir up their artistic vocabulary, expand their art making techniques, and discover their own unique artistic voice. In this fun, no-rules and supportive class, students will learn strategies to begin a collage through conceptualizing through the elements of art: color, value, composition. Students will learn how as how synthesize these elements to create a compelling visual experience. Explore how to intuitively reimagine the bits & pieces of your saved paper ephemera into creative personal expressions. Online demos will cover tearing, cutting, gluing techniques, drawing, painting and the methods for combining and layering various 2-D materials.
